What You Need to Know to Choose the Right Garden Fencing
Psychotherapists in their work sometimes use the following technique: they ask the patient to recall the happiest moment in his life. One needs to get it from one’s memory, recall and memorize the feelings that occur at that time and then, if necessary, use them as a remedy for stress, depression or simply as recreation and relaxation. I searched in my memory for such feelings and there was a recall (though not the only one) of when I came to my garden and saw the trees that I planted grow. Someone likes holidays at the seaside, someone is fond of mountains and I enjoy gardens, woods, believing that those who have all that and have an opportunity to be there whenever they want are happy people!
And now, happy people, we’re going to discuss a very important matter – garden fencing. Those are right who settle this issue when they see their garden and garden fence designs around it are yet only in the sketch. In any case, you should have the following information: the length of the proposed garden fence along the perimeter, a sketch form of the perimeter itself, the relief of your plot. Talk with members of your family (two or more opinions are better than one), acquaintances, friends (they may have their own experience on this issue) about the materials of which garden fences are made, familiarize yourself with suggestions of experts on the site… (without them you may even not know anything about new materials and may not have full information about already known ones).
Materials have their advantages and disadvantages that will occur or not subject to the features of your garden and some other circumstances.
So, let’s discuss various garden fencing ideas. First, garden fencing is aimed at establishing and protecting the actual boundaries of your garden plot as private property. The second aim is to divide the garden with decorative garden fencing into separate internal parts. If the part is a flower bed, the aim is protection against domestic animals, little children who like to pluck something beautiful and give it to you, or it’ll simply be an additional decoration. Internal part may also be a lawn, a sports ground, a playground, an enclosure for animals… The materials virtually may be any (plastic garden fencing, wooden garden fencing, metal garden fencing), their height depends on the intended function. If you want that while playing badminton, the shuttlecock remains in the playground, the height of garden edging fence must be appropriate, a flowerbed fencing may just be nominal.
Special love and anxiety are felt when choosing the corner for leisure in one’s garden. There may be a bench, a table, a flower bed in front, a small pond which can be made even of an old bathtub. An arbor made, for example, with the help of garden fencing trellis would look very nice and cozy there. For the fencing of leisure corner, you can use any cheap garden fencing, because it’ll anyway be hidden by climbing plants. The entrance into such a corner may be made of wrought iron gate. That’ll be romantic, fairy, mysterious. Wrought iron garden fence is beautiful, but expensive, so it’s used where the price is justified, where you can see its beauty and elegance, for example, in the fencing of a flowerbed, a garden fence gate, a wicket.
Since the perimeter of the garden is rather extensive, it makes sense to buy garden fence panels. Garden fencing panels are made of wood, plastics, concrete, an iron and aluminum wire, bamboo, willow. It is interesting that willow garden fencing may be considered wood garden fencing on one hand and a hedge on the other, because live willow cuttings may be used as garden fencing. Wood garden fencing panels are good by the fact that they are most natural for the garden. But, compared to the modern garden fencing, they are less durable (except for a living willow) and require specific upkeep. The same goes for bamboo garden fencing, but only to a much greater degree. In addition to exotica, beauty, naturalness and impermeability, it has its drawbacks. In order for it not to come into contact with moist earth, use the horizontal concrete beams, for strength they are interwoven with metallic threads.
Garden picket fence may be called classics, it is often used both for external fencing and for fencing within the garden. Less popular now is fencing made of stone and concrete, which is unfair, since the individual sections of a concrete garden fencing are made lighter now, but, on the other hand, of different shape, relief and color. An undoubted durability is a great advantage of such gardening fencing.
Plastic garden fence is easy to install on the slopes as well, it requires no upkeep, it is smooth, easy to wash (if children draw something on it). From the color grade of vinyl garden fence, yellow, I think, is better suitable for the garden, it looks like an imitation of wooden garden fences. White looks a little harsh on the background of the natural landscape, but it’s a matter of taste.
Variations of metal garden fence (iron garden fence, wire garden fence, aluminum garden fencing), except for the name, are not much different from one another. An aluminum wire is not exposed to corrosion, and an iron one is covered with paint or galvanized. Common for them is that such a fence for garden is both durable and, at the same time, allows to see through it. I think that your personal space has to be hidden from prying eyes. This shortcoming may be easily rectified, if you plant perennial climbing lianas, clematises, wild and garden grapes, blackberries, hop, ivy, climbing roses along the perimeter of your home garden fencing. There is plenty of room for your creative fantasy. You may plant even annual plants. For example, the Jerusalem artichoke will very fast cover the view with a solid picket fence and in autumn you’ll gather tubers of this unpretentious and, at the same time, precious plant.
In such a manner, you can “enliven” any, even a solid built or bought garden fence. Evergreen thujas, junipers, firs look very beautiful along the garden fence. In general, there’s a large field for your imagination here! Good luck in choosing garden fence posts.
I sincerely wish you to build a garden of your dream and that you, your family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoy life in it.
